Mayor hosts tea party for local 80 year olds

Eastleigh celebrated 80 years since it was awarded its Borough status by King Edward VIII by staging a special tea party for residents who are 80 years of age or older.
Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Des Scott, hosted the afternoon tea party for around 125 guests at The Point, Eastleigh The event is supported by Peter Green Home Furnishers who are themselves celebrating 60 years of trading in the borough.
The free event was fully booked and guests are enjoyed an afternoon tea and music from across the decades played by a professional pianist. There was also a slide show of images of Eastleigh over the last 80 years to help bring back lots of memories.
Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Des Scott, said: “We have had a wonderful afternoon and it was great to see residents from across our area coming together to celebrate Eastleigh’s 80th anniversary as a Borough - and to share memories and photos over an excellent afternoon tea. We’re very grateful to Peter Green, who are marking their 60th anniversary this year, for supporting this memorable event.”
