Eighty Girls attended 'All About Her' launch event to discover new sports and activities across the Borough.
Supporting young women aged 9 - 16 get into sports and physical activity
Eastleigh Active's launch event, All About Her, at Places Leisure Eastleigh, gave attendees the opportunity to try new sports, meet activity providers and find out how they can get involved in girls-only sessions taking place across the borough this summer.
Delivered in partnership with Places Leisure Eastleigh and supported by Wates Group, the event was designed to inspire more girls to get active by showcasing a range of sports and physical activities in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Throughout the event, girls had the opportunity to try a range of activities, meet coaches and activity providers, and find out more about how they can get involved in sport and physical activity over the summer. The atmosphere was positive and energetic, with attendees embracing the chance to step outside their comfort zones, try something new and connect with other girls who share an interest in being active.
The event also showcased the girls-only opportunities available through the Eastleigh Active summer programme, including tennis, street basketball, football, cricket and Big Sister Sessions. Designed to be welcoming, supportive and accessible, the sessions aim to help girls build confidence, develop skills and create lasting positive experiences of sport and physical activity.
Wates Group also brought a range of interactive activities to the event, including a photobooth and opportunities for attendees to learn more about women working in construction, helping to showcase different career pathways and inspire future ambitions.
The launch event forms part of Eastleigh Active's ongoing commitment to addressing the barriers that can prevent girls from participating in sport and physical activity. Research shows that girls are more likely to drop out of sport as they get older, often due to confidence, social pressures or a lack of opportunities that feel right for them. The girls-only sessions have been developed to create spaces where girls can feel comfortable trying something new, making friends and having fun.
Eastleigh Active is also continuing its partnership with Places Leisure Eastleigh to deliver Big Sister Sessions, building on the national Big Sister initiative developed by Places Leisure and Women in Sport to create more positive sporting experiences for teenage girls.
Following the success of the launch event, bookings for the Eastleigh Active summer programme are now open, giving girls across the borough the opportunity to try new activities, build confidence and stay active throughout the summer.
Eastleigh Active would like to thank Places Leisure Eastleigh, Wates Group and all activity providers for helping to deliver a fantastic event and inspiring more girls to get involved in sport and physical activity this summer.
