Walktogether

WalkTogether is the new name for the Council’s weekly walks programme, supported by volunteers, to support wellbeing.

Previously Health Walks, WalkTogether sessions are available across the Borough all year round. They are great for people with long-term illnesses, mobility issues, or those who just want to connect with new like-minded walkers.

Our trained WalkTogether Leaders are the backbone of the programme and lead a number of walks each week of different lengths, accessibility and locations. Each walk lasts approximately one hour with a distance of 2-3 miles, and some routes have ‘slower walk’ options.

Walking is a great calorie burner. It is low intensity, low impact, sustainable and easy to do. All you need is a good pair of shoes, suitable clothing for the weather and enthusiasm! Come along and join in with this great form of exercise, which is healthy, fun and free.

Regular brisk walking can help prevent heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. All walk leaders are volunteers who help us to help the local community to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing.

To join in

On your first walk you’ll be asked to complete a registration form provided by our Leaders.

Just turn up to your first walk wearing good walking shoes and suitable clothing, that doesn’t restrict movement. Bring along bottle of water as even on cool days it’s important to stay hydrated.

Pick your next walk now or enquire about becoming a Leader

The Programme is funded by Hampshire County Council and supported by the Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust.
