A big thank you for volunteers
Local volunteers attended a big thank you event hosted by the Mayor of Eastleigh to celebrate their achievements and support for projects and activities across the Borough over the past year.
The Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Richard Gomer, shared an afternoon tea with the volunteers, and supporting Council officers, at Itchen Valley Country Park and thanked them for their dedication and hard work as they shared stories.
The volunteers who attended this special event represented over 200 volunteers who help keep green spaces usable and safe for visitors, plants and wildlife; events running smoothly; and residents happy and moving at walking sessions.
Volunteers represented roles worked alongside Country Parks and Countryside Officers, Theatre teams, and Health & Wellbeing projects.
The event took place in The Hide, the new event family and business space at Itchen Valley Country Park’s High Hill Field, which currently offers launch discounts.
Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Richard Gomer, said: “It was great to recognise these amazing volunteers and the diverse contributions they have made to the lives of residents and visitors to the Borough. Volunteering is a superpower that builds our community up and makes a real difference to the lives of others. I’d urge everyone to consider volunteering as a way to connect with others, develop new skills, and improve the places that we live.”
