Meet Inderjeet

When Inderjeet was told she needed a back operation, the 67-year-old asked her doctor if there was an alternative to surgery. He suggested she increased her activity levels but gave no guarantee that it would prevent the need for surgery.

Determined to improve her fitness Inderjeet joined a local walking group, organised by HealthWorks. Initially the Boyatt Wood resident found the sessions a struggle; on her first walk she only managed a short distance before having to give up and turn back home, but she was determined not to quit...

With the support of the other members of the walking group, she persevered and now a year on, Inderjeet walks five times a week, is the fittest she's been in years - and miraculously no longer needs back surgery. Walking has introduced Inderjeet to a whole new circle of friends, has boosted her confidence and, arguably more importantly, transformed her health.

You can take part in our HealthWalks in the Borough facilitated by our HealthWorks team.
