New college building opens

Chair of Eastleigh Local Area Committee Cllr Paul Bicknell was on hand to support and celebrate Eastleigh College’s new professional teaching building.

The new centre, which opened this term, boasts modern and elegant training salons for hairdressing, beauty and media make-up, in addition to extensive facilities for Art, Design and Media including a photography studio and a dark room, and a suite of computers for professional studies. The new state-of-the-art facilities create an exceptional learning environment for the students, which in turn will help better prepare them for a career in their chosen field.

The centre comes as part of stage two of a £12m major redevelopment project at the college, with stage one – the refurbishment of a new training restaurant - already complete. Stage three, a new advanced technology centre with facilities for computer science, electronic engineering and professional construction, is due to be completed in 2017.

Cllr Bicknell said, “It’s been amazing to watch these state of the art modern facilities develop and it will provide an excellent environment in which the students can learn the skills required for employment in their industry.”
