The Council's new policy making Cabinet has been announced following the recent local elections.
There is only one change to the Cabinet, that is made up of eight Councillors, with the addition of Councillor Derek Pretty who represents Hedge End Grange Park as the new portfolio lead for Business & Skills.
Derek retired last year as Contracts Director for a major Hampshire-based local builders merchant. One of his direct responsibilities was business growth so he has direct experience of promoting jobs, training and skills with businesses large and small. A former Borough Mayor, Derek has also served the community of Hedge End on the Town Council for over 25 years and advised the council on construction projects.
Council Leader Keith House said, “Derek will bring new commercial expertise into the Council’s Cabinet at a time when business efficiency and investment are increasingly important council priorities.”
He added, “We have a great team who will provide lots of ideas and enthusiasm to their Cabinet roles as the Council takes forward its pledges to cut Council Tax in real terms every year, protect services and deliver new community facilities.”
The full list of new portfolio roles is:
