About the Council
Prepared to invest in our people
At Eastleigh we are proud of what we have achieved. As a medium-sized district council with a £65 million turnover and big ambitions, we have delivered a range of major projects and initiatives ensuring we continue to be progressive and innovative in our approach.
The Council employs just over 500 professional staff at various sites supporting around 129,000 residents and a diverse range of businesses.
Our recent whole-council redesign supports our ambitions to deliver for our community, allows us to build on our £220 million property portfolio that already generates £6 million income a year for frontline services, together with our pioneering housing joint venture, that will deliver much needed homes in our Borough, whilst generating significant income.
Investing in our community
In recent times we have delivered a diverse range of capital projects focused on putting our communities and customers first - from the redevelopment of new leisure and entertainment destinations in Eastleigh town centre, to the opening of The Berry Theatre and the new Lowford Community Centre at Bursledon. We have moved our council offices to the heart of Eastleigh to provide better access to our customers and ensure a high profile.
Our multi-million pound investment in The Ageas Bowl, to transform the home of Hampshire Cricket into a ‘destination venue’ with a four-star Hilton Hotel and spa, has delivered tangible economic benefits through job creation and bringing more visitors to our Borough. We have developed a new town centre M&S food hall and boast a long list of major brands among our commercial property tenants. Our ambitions for a healthy community are underlined with the opening of the state-of-the-art Places Leisure Eastleigh health and fitness centre (which offers a 30% discount to Council staff).
Committed to customer service
We have an excellent reputation with our customers – seen as friendly, approachable and working hard for our communities. We are respected by key partners and our culture is based on supporting each another to achieve results. We are known in the region for our willingness to try out new things, be innovative and take risks.
