WalkTogether sessions are available across the Borough all year round. Our WalkTogether Leaders are the backbone of the programme who lead the a number of walks each week. They are great for people with long-term illnesses, mobility issues, or those who just want to connect with new like-minded walkers.

Walking is a great calorie burner. It is low intensity, low impact, sustainable and easy to do. All you need is a good pair of shoes, suitable clothing for the weather and enthusiasm! Come along and join in with this great form of exercise, which is healthy, fun and free.

Regular brisk walking can help prevent heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. All walk leaders are volunteers who help us to help the local community to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing.

To join in

Just turn up to your first walk wearing good walking shoes and suitable clothing, that doesn’t restrict movement. Bring along bottle of water as even on cool days it’s important to stay hydrated.

On your first walk you’ll be asked to complete a registration form provided by our Walk Leaders

You may also want to take along:

  • healthy snacks
  • an umbrella or waterproof clothing
  • sunhat, sunglasses and sun cream
  • a camera or phone
  • anything else that’ll make you feel more comfortable.

Walking pace

*these walks will have a separate slow walk option.
Each walk lasts approximately one hour with a distance of 2-3 miles.
