- Green up our towns and local centres.
Town Centre Project: Together We Make Eastleigh
Together We Make Eastleigh is a new, community-driven project led by Eastleigh Borough Council and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The project aims to enhance Eastleigh Town Centre by engaging with residents, businesses, and visitors to shape the town’s future.
Through creative initiatives and meaningful conversations, we will build a vision for a thriving, inclusive town centre that meets the needs of all who live, work, study and visit Eastleigh.
How does it work?
The project invites everyone in Eastleigh to have their say. Starting from 19th September 2024, we are launching a large-scale public survey to gather insights about your experiences and ideas for the town centre. This will be accompanied by a series of workshops and creative events designed to encourage input from various groups, including businesses, local organisations, and young people.
Your feedback will help us:
- Understand the strengths and challenges of the town centre.
- Develop strategies that support local businesses and boost footfall.
- Enhance the overall visitor experience.
- Create a strong case for future funding and development opportunities.
Get involved
- Survey: Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey. The survey period has now closed, and we are in the process of analysing and collating the responses. We will be identifying common themes and using the feedback to guide the next steps in shaping the future of Eastleigh Town Centre.
- Workshops: We are hosting targeted workshops for different interest groups, including businesses, community organisations, and young people. These sessions will provide an opportunity for more in-depth discussions and idea-sharing.
Why your voice matters
Your feedback is essential in creating a town centre that works for everyone. Whether you visit Eastleigh daily or occasionally, whether you're a business owner, student, or resident, your opinions will directly influence the future development of the town.
Project Partners
Together We Make Eastleigh is supported by Eastleigh Town Council, Eastleigh BID, Hampshire County Council, and Hemingway Design, with Wayne Hemingway MBE leading the design and engagement process.
What's next?
After the survey and workshops, we will analyse the results and present them as part of our long-term strategy for the town. The insights you provide will guide new initiatives, public space improvements, and more, helping us position Eastleigh for future investment opportunities.

Eastleigh Artist in Residence: Majorette Meg
Watch this video to hear artist Megan Clark-Bagnall meeting Eastleigh residents and collecting their views on Eastleigh’s past, present and future. Duration 37 minutes.
Megan Clark-Bagnall was appointed as Eastleigh’s artist in residence for summer 2024 to plan and deliver creative engagement in Eastleigh town centre; gathering current perceptions of the town and potential ideas for future activities and public art.
Funded by UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund, embedding an artist in the town centre consultation and regeneration process aimed to diversify the approach to engagement and embed arts at the heart of the project.
Undertaking the residency as a carnival-inspired character, ‘Majorette Meg’ ran three events investigating the past, present and possible futures of Eastleigh. She also made cameo appearances at community events and venues including Eastleigh Mela, the Library, the Community Garden and The Point to find out what local people think are the true colours of Eastleigh.

A three-year borough-wide Investment Plan was developed and approved by local MPs, and submitted by Eastleigh Borough Council in August 2022; successfully receiving its total allocation of £1,000,000 of ringfenced grant income. The allocation of funds is split across the funding period.
The UKSPF programme ‘Growing Spaces, Growing Networks, Growing Wellbeing’ is an environmental programme, built around the Corporate Plan Priorities; ‘Protecting our environment’ and ‘Shaping places.’ It is focused on reducing inequalities in peoples’ experience, and access to green spaces. Community is at the heart of the programme with each workstream providing opportunities for the Council to engage with residents and businesses.
The revenue funded programme has been designed to leave a legacy. Partnerships, projects, and social networks developed through the programme aim to encourage residents and businesses to take pride in their local community and reduce their carbon emissions. Information gathered through audits, mapping and community engagement activities will be used to inform the development of policies in the Local Plan review.
