Park Sport

Our annual summer activity programme for 5-16 year olds and their families

We're ready to reduce screen time and turn up the fun this summer!

The SportWorks team are excited to announce that Park Sport 2022 is returning this summer with new activities, old favourites and more...

The well-loved Borough-wide annual summer programme continues with the expanded age range introduced last year - offering children and young people aged 5-16 a broad range of opportunities to try new sports and active sessions.

This year’s programme, which will run 1 - 26 August, sees the return of popular activities such as the free SkateJams and swimming at multiple locations. A range of sports clubs and activity providers will be providing introductory sessions for just £2.50pp (concessions available) to enable children and young people to try something new and pick up a new hobby.

Something for everyone!

Family Session 2022: Boccia

The inclusive Boccia sport has quite the Great British pedigree with our very own David Smith MBE, gold paralympian and multiple Eastleigh Sports Awards winner!

It's similar to bowls or pétanque, it relies on the skill and subtlety of the player, rather than their size, speed and strength. A ball can be propelled by rolling, throwing or kicking. If a player is unable to throw or kick, they can use a ramp (assistive device). If they are unable to release the ball with their hands, players can use a head pointer.

Park Sport Family Sessions allow parents to join the kids to turn up the fun. This year, the inclusive sport of Boccia is our family session. Be led by District Sports at Eastleigh Boccia Club, £2.50 per child and £1.50 per accompanying adult (concessions available).

Cycles4All: sundown cycle

Cycles4all at Pavilion on the Park, Eastleigh, is offering disabled children and young people access to a variety of inclusive bikes and the appropriate support to use the bikes safely and with confidence. They have a range of cycles including trikes, tandems, hand-cycles, wheelchair bike combos, side-by-side tandems, and electric bikes. Book your one-hour instructor led sundown cycle session for £2.50 (concessions available) to have a go Wednesday 3 and 17 August, 3-4pm!
