Hiltingbury Lakes transformation

Latest news on the improvements to Hiltingbury Lakes

The Chandler's Ford and Hiltingbury Local Area Committee have approved £260,000 for the restoration of the Hiltingbury Lakes site.

The much needed transformation work will restore the popular beauty spot by:

  • Improving water flows through the lake and ponds
  • Removing invasive plants
  • Restoring historical woodland
  • Protecting wildlife
  • Improving paths
  • Better visitor information
  • Recruiting volunteers

The site is owned and managed by Eastleigh Borough Council.

It comprises of 15 acres.

The Monksbrook river runs through the Hiltingbury Lakes site.

The area is home to a host of local wildlife and is a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) due to the ancient woodland.

It is a designated Historic Park and Garden.

The Woodland Trust believe it may be one of the fishponds in the area mentioned in the Domesday Book.

There are 19 species of ancient woodland plants.
