Smokefree Hampshire first call for those inspired by Stoptober
The Council are supporting smoking cessation over the next 18 months starting with an awareness campaign to encourage residents to seek support to quit smoking.
The well-renown NHS Stoptober will be specifically supported over October 2025 and October 2026 to signpost residents who wish to stop smoking and vaping. They will be signposted to Smokefree Hampshire, who provide online support, a quitline phone service, self-referral for solo support, as well as general support and advice to give a resident the best chance of quitting.

The campaign will focus on different approaches to support Smokefree Hampshire the next 18months, with targeted engagement projects to be announced.
The campaign is funded by Hampshire County Council and aims to support Smokefree Hampshire reach and engage with other borough councils and partners across the county, also awarded with matching grants.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s Cabinet Member Health, Cllr Tonia Craig, said: “Although we’re proud that smoking prevalence is relatively low, compared to national figures, in the Borough, the benefits to the individual and their families are always worth quitting smoking. Now’s the time, with free support. We hope young and old engage with the campaign to help strangers and our loved ones choose a healthier future.”
