A message from Council Leader, Councillor Keith House as we get ready to reopen our 'high streets' safely on Monday 15 June

'Non-essential' retailers in Eastleigh town centre and in shopping hubs around the Borough are reopening their doors thanks to a range of measures designed to ensure social distancing and make shopping safer.

Eastleigh Borough Council has received over £118,000 of government funding to support the safe reopening of its ‘high streets’ and other commercial areas across the Borough following the Government’s announcement that non-essential shops can re-open from Monday 15 June.

The Council is now working with other local councils and business organisations including  Hampshire County Council, Eastleigh BID (Business Improvement District) and Parish/Town Councils to use the money to put in place additional measures to establish a safe trading environment for businesses and customers in high streets and other retail areas.

With more businesses reopening across the Borough, and as things start to return to a new state of normal, the Council is sharing advice for staying safe and alert when reopening businesses and going back to work.

High Street and Market Street in Eastleigh town centre are closing to vehicles to allow safer social distancing for shoppers. For more information including a map of the new layout, disabled parking and FAQs  find out more

Please remember that from Monday 15 June parking charges apply in the town centre.
