The Government recently announced that non-essential shops could reopen from Monday 15 June, and subsequently, from 4 July many other businesses and venues will be permitted to reopen and will be expected to follow COVID-19 Secure guidelines. From 4 July, town centre businesses such as restaurants, cafe's, coffee shops and hairdressers can also open.
We're committed to providing as safe a shopping environment as possible, helping people to feel safe when visiting the town centre and to support their local shops by shopping locally.
The Government advised local authorities to make appropriate changes to local roads to help with social distancing for residents, pedestrians and cyclists.
What are we doing to help with social distancing measures?
We have closed Market Street and High Street to vehicles and have suspended on-street parking from 15 June. This has been done in consultation with, and support from, Hampshire County Council and means both Market Street and High Street are open for pedestrian use only. You can find the temporary traffic order here (a simple map which explains the closures is below.)
