Celebrating apprenticeships
Celebrating our apprentices during National Apprenticeship Week
This week (7-13 February) is National Apprenticeship Week with this year’s theme, 'Build the Future'. It is about celebrating the value, benefits and opportunities an apprenticeship can bring.
Eastleigh Borough Council encourages teams to consider apprenticeships, both for existing staff and external candidates. Apprenticeships help attract, train, develop and retain employees, benefiting both the individual and organisation.
Kieran Stevens, who works in the Council's IT Case Team, shared his personal experiences of being an apprentice. He said: "Completing an apprenticeship has helped me achieve a solid foundation for the beginning of my IT career. Its practical nature helped me learn whilst on-the-job, developing my knowledge and skills in real-life business scenarios.
"During my apprenticeship, I took part in an array of projects which helped me develop a new understanding of different IT processes. The support provided throughout was brilliant and helped me achieve, learn and grow. I would thoroughly recommend an apprenticeship."
Kieran's ability and customer focus has already been recognised with a Council Staff Award.
