International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls

Each year on 25th November, marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls (IDEVAWG), a day that calls on us all to challenge the systems, cultures, and behaviours that allow violence and abuse to persist.

It’s a moment for both reflection and action, reminding us that domestic abuse is never a private issue it’s a societal responsibility.

The 16 Days of Activism that follow (25th November-10th December) give the opportunity to renew our shared commitment to ending all forms of violence against women and girls, and to ensure that no one is left behind in our efforts to build safer communities.

2025 focus: Children and Young People as Victims in Their Own Right

At Stop Domestic Abuse, Hampshire's this year we’re shining a light on those whose experiences are too often unseen or misunderstood - children and young people living with domestic abuse.

For far too long, children have been described as witnesses to abuse. But we know they are victims in their own right. The fear, control, and harm they experience can leave deep and lasting impacts on their well-being, relationships, education, and future.

Stop Domestic's campaign calls on everyone to:

• Listen to their voices, even when they are silent.
• Believe their experiences, even when they are hard to hear.
• Respond with compassion, consistency, and coordination.
• Empower them to shape the services that affect their lives.
