Management and operation Code of Practice
The Council works in partnership with the police and traders' organisations to promote CCTV systems in Eastleigh and Hedge End town centres to reduce crime and the fear of crime.
The location of our CCTV cameras can be found on the following maps:
Please check the map to see whether a camera is likely to cover the location of your request.
Requesting CCTV footage
If you need to request video images because of an accident
The request must come from your insurance company or solicitor to provide assurance that the images are being used for lawful purposes. We have a legal duty to ensure images are not disclosed unlawfully under the General Data Protection Regulations and the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.
Requests should be made by completing a CCTV request form and either emailing it to dp@eastleigh.gov.uk or sending it to:
Data Protection Officer
Eastleigh Borough Council
Eastleigh House
Upper Market Street
Eastleigh SO50 9YN
We will let you know if there are cameras that may have caught the incident. We can also advise you if there are any cameras in the area, but we will not release any images to you. We will only release images to your insurance company or solicitor. This service is free.
You should also be aware that CCTV images are only kept for 31 days from the date of the recording in line with our retention schedule.
If you need to request video images because of an incident that has an element of crime involved
This should be first reported to the police.
For example, if you found damage to your vehicle as a result of a “fail to stop” or you returned to your vehicle and found damage then these should be reported. The police, when appropriate will direct their enquiries to us, and we will make relevant footage available to them.
