Young people benefit from online employment support

31 March 2021

Local young people across the Borough can now benefit from a virtual and telephone-based support service to help them  find employment and enhance their career prospects.

Test Valley Borough Council, New Forest District Council and Winchester City Council have joined us to launch the Youth Employment Hub to connect, listen to and provide solutions for young people to find employment and help secure their futures.

Employment in young people has been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic with an increase in unemployment for young people across the country aged 16 – 24 compared to the last quarter. The project is designed to reduce the barriers for young people, working closely with stakeholders such as  Hampshire County Council, employers, training providers, schools and colleges

The P4 Youth Employment Hub online and telephone-bases support service will be staffed from 9am to 5pm with access to out of hours support. Each local authority has a dedicated helpline to answer enquiries and to help young people start their journey to employment.

Once referred they will be able to gain help, support and advice on a range of training and employment opportunities and will be informed about local activities, such as local youth groups, sports clubs, drama, art groups and activity sessions.

Young people can now access the information on the Youth Employment Hub and use the service to develop skills, find training opportunities and seek advice on employment.
