Major improvements to Itchen Valley Country Park, one of the area's most popular green spaces, are about to get under way.

The works will deliver a range of exciting new features, including creative play facilities, a visitor hub, an outdoor events and eating area, and better trails, barbecue and picnic areas.

The aim is to make the park more versatile for a range of events and activities, while preserving it as a valued local amenity, where Borough residents can enjoy its tranquil surroundings.

The improved facilities will also provide greater accessibility, with a Changing Places room for disabled users, as well as additional toilets. Car parking will be upgraded and the riverside access road will be diverted to keep vehicles away from park users.

Members of the Eastleigh Borough Council project team and contractors, Blakedown joined Councillors Keith House and Cynthia Garton and the Council's Chief Executive, James Strachan to signal the start of work.

RHP Architects, who designed the Eastleigh Lakeside Centre for the Council are lead architect and masterplanners.
