Work continues at Hiltingbury Lakes

02 December 2021

The latest improvements to Hiltingbury Lakes in Chandler’s Ford are well underway at the popular beauty spot.

We've been working alongside contractors B&M McHugh Ltd to transform the Lakes back to their former glory with some essential maintenance work to the footpaths, bridges and waterways.

All the work taking place has been approved by the Environment Agency and contractors have been working hard over the past few weeks. Fences have been replaced around the lower ponds and the large bridge by the main lake has now been removed.

This means that the main walkway through the centre of the site remains closed along the southern edge of the lake and the new bridge will be installed in the coming weeks. The new bridge will have new wooden decking boards and handrails and provide wonderful views across the lake. We are working to get this completed in time for Christmas.

In Summer 2022, contractors will return to site to carry out further works to the footpath around the western side of the lower ponds to improve surfacing and carry out further drainage works where the paths are muddy.
