Watercourse works set to take place at Hiltingbury Lakes in coming weeks
The next phase of work is due to take place at Hiltingbury Lakes in the next few weeks with the aim to help improve the waterways and pathways around the natural beauty spot.
We're working with contractors B&M McHugh Ltd who will be conducting the work that will see the replacement of the site’s two bridges, repairs to riverbanks, paths and weirs that have been eroded by the river, and new footpath surfacing and fencing to create an improved walking route around the lower ponds.
Work will also be carried out on the drainage system to help rainwater find its way into the stream without flooding some parts of the footpath leading to erosion and muddy patches.
All works have been approved by the Environment Agency. Whilst this vital improvement work is being carried out, parts of the footpath network may be temporarily closed for the safety of visitors. We aim to keep as much of the site open as possible during the daytime and any areas that are closed off will only remain so for as short a period as possible.
We hope that residents and visitors to the area will appreciate the work that is taking place and see that these continuing improvements are being carried out to help the wildlife and make the area a more enjoyable place to visit.
