Unwrapped festival pops up in Netley
A taster of The Point's favourite summer arts festival
New for 2023, The Point is bringing a taster of its favourite summer arts festival to families in Netley Abbey on Saturday 23 September.
From 11am - 2pm Unwrapped will take entertainment out of the theatre and onto the Cricket Field by Abbey Hall. Visitors can expect all the fun of Unwrapped with performances, craft activities and more, just on a smaller scale.
A special kind of magic awaits local audiences with bubble entertainment from Squidge and Pop (a big hit at June’s event), powerful dancing from The Point’s very own ORB Youth Dance Company, beautiful acoustic music for little ears with Wonder Gigs, circus skills with Juggling Jake, an appearance from locals the Netley Ukulele Band, storytelling and have-a-go-crafts.
The Point is owned and operated by Easlteigh Borough Council. Councillor Tonia Craig, who chairs the Bursledon, Hamble-le-Rice and Hound Local Area Committee said: “Eastleigh Unwrapped has always been one of the most popular and exciting events in our arts calendar - and we were keen to take it out into the Borough so that local communities could enjoy it in their immediate neighbourhood. I’m sure that its great mixture of entertainment will prove a surefire hit in Netley.”
Charlotte Hall, Artistic Director at The Point Eastleigh, said: “Unwrapped Festival has been delighting audiences in Eastleigh and Hedge End for a number of years now and so it is fantastic to bring this wonderful event to such a beautiful setting in Netley. It is a magical to find creative experiences right on your doorstep and our teams have been working hard to put together an unforgettable programme for local families.”
