This Girl Can Eastleigh to support Menopause Warriors in the Borough
Providing physical activities to help manage symptoms
This autumn, This Girl Can Eastleigh begins its third and final wave of the 2022 campaign, tailored to women in the Borough experiencing symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause.
The Council’s SportWorks team have teamed up with Country Parks, Arts & Culture and HealthWorks teams, and other partners to put on a free Mind over Matter online workshop before celebrating World Menopause Day 18 October. At which point, activities such as targeted Walk & Talks, low impact circuits, and a Broadway dance class will be available to book.
This is part of a national This Girl Can focus, with educational support on how providers can adapt to help women stay active during this challenging life stage. This includes a partnership with STRAVA, to encourage a space for women to lift each other up while they pursue flexible exercise at their own pace.
The campaign also offers a number of support and advice routes to explore and the team are encouraging Menopause Warriors to add to this resource library.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Councillor Tonia Craig, said: “We continue to proudly support this inspiring and successful Lottery funded Sport England movement. It's key to ensure women at all life stages have the education and support they need at the right time - we encourage all Menopause Warriors in the Borough to engage.”
