The Point Eastleigh to offer COVID home testing kits
Theatre ceases on-site testing on 1 April
The Point Eastleigh, one of Hampshire’s 11 community asymptomatic COVID test centres, will cease on-site testing from Wednesday 1 April and will move to offering takeaway home-testing kits.
From that date, the theatre will no longer be open to test people showing no symptoms of the virus but will instead be a collection point so that residents can give themselves repeat tests in their own home or workplace. Multipacks of the testing kits will be available for anyone who needs them. From 1 April, there will be no need to book - simply turn up during the opening times (below.)
Over the past six weeks The Point has played a key role in County-wide coronavirus response, testing as many as 300 people a week since it opened on 22 February. The centre has been set up and run by a team of Eastleigh Borough Council and Place Leisure Eastleigh staff, many of whom have volunteered their time to run the facility.
The scheme has been aimed particularly at Borough residents and people who travel to work in the Borough, particularly key workers who cannot work from home and who need to leave their home to work.
The Point is open to collect home test kits from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm (closed from Good Friday to Easter Monday.)
Anyone who tests positive will need to follow self-isolation guidance.
