Stop Smoking, Feel Happier – new campaign launches across Hampshire
Eastleigh Borough Council is supporting a new regional campaign, Stop Smoking, Feel Happier, which has launched to encourage residents to consider quitting smoking by highlighting the positive impact it can have on both physical and mental wellbeing.
The campaign challenges the common myth that smoking helps to relieve stress. Instead, growing evidence shows that stopping smoking can improve mood, reduce anxiety and help people feel calmer and happier within weeks of quitting. Within weeks of quitting, the brain begins to rebalance dopamine, the ‘happy hormone’ that smoking suppresses, helping people feel calmer, brighter and less stressed.
Residents who want to quit smoking or vaping can access free, confidential support through Smokefree Hampshire. Support includes personalised one-to-one sessions, access to nicotine replacement therapy, stop smoking medications and Swap to Stop vape kits, all designed to give people the best possible chance of quitting successfully.
Smokefree Hampshire provides support in a way that works for individuals, whether that’s online, over the phone, or through self-referral, offering encouragement at every step of the journey.
The Stop Smoking, Feel Happier campaign is led by the South East Smokefree Alliance and will be supported locally by Smokefree Hampshire. The campaign will run alongside wider stop smoking activity across Hampshire, supporting residents of all ages to choose a healthier future for themselves and their families.
