Singer brings magic to Eastleigh's streets
Soprano's walking tour aims to bring people together
The lockdown hasn't stopped The Point Eastleigh from bringing imaginative entertainment to audiences and continuing the community spirit inspired by Clap for Carers. Their latest production is The Nightingale Walks, a tour of the town's streets by a professional opera singer over two Thursday evenings from this week (4 June).
As part of The Point’s virtual replacement of its annual outdoor festival, Eastleigh Unwrapped, soprano singer Lucy Mellors has been following a carefully planned route on foot on Thursday evenings to sing a mix of well-known songs and opera arias to residents. Her soaring voice has encouraged people to come to their front doors and windows and share the magic of the moment as she passes.
Lucy will be in Eastleigh on the 4 and 11 June from 8pm to 8.45pm. If residents do see or hear The Nightingale, The Point team would love to see posts on social media. Look out for the #MovingYou hashtag.
It may be some time before The Point is able to host audiences in the theatre in the way it did before social distancing measures, so the venue team will continue to think of ways to bring residents special experiences that move, delight and surprise!
