Residents urged to recycle their pumpkins

23 October 2023
Recycle your pumpkin

Borough residents are being encouraged not to throw their Halloween pumpkin in their black bin but to compost or recycle it instead.

Thousands of pumpkins across the borough will be left over from Halloween. Residents are being reminded that they can be recycled with your food waste that is collected weekly. Simply leave your pumpkin in, or on top of your brown food waste bin and it will be collected.

Cabinet Lead for Environment Cllr Rupert Kyrle said: "It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying Halloween across the borough. If you’re not going to cook your pumpkin then there is just no excuse for not composting or recycling your pumpkin."
