Remembrance Day commemorations held around the Borough
An Armistice Day commemoration was also held at Eastleigh
Remembrance services and Parades were held around the Borough on Sunday 9 November.
An Armistice Day Service was also held at 10.45am on Tuesday 11 November at the War Memorial in Eastleigh Recreation Ground.
The Council erected the two large poppies on the bandstand to provide a very visual sign of support for this year’s remembrance
The Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Janice Asman, together with representatives of the Royal British Legion, other veterans’ organisations, Councillors and members of the public gathered for Eastleigh’s Armistice Day ceremony at the memorial.
As with last Sunday’s Service of Remembrance, the event ran very smoothly and the two-minute silence at 11am was impeccably observed.
The service was a fitting tribute, in the 80th anniversary year of the end of the Second World War, to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the two world wars and subsequent conflicts.
