Do you recycle food waste?

Let us know why you do/don't recycle food waste?

30 January 2024

Local residents have the chance to comment on the Council's food waste collection service in a questionnaire. The results will help the Council improve the service in the future.

In particular, the Council is keen to understand the reasons why many residents do not recycle their food waste in their brown food waste caddy/bin.  Food waste is the only commodity to be collected weekly alongside either your green recycling or black household waste bin and it can also help keep your black bin cleaner.

We know that some residents use our food waste service but we would like to encourage more residents to recycle their food waste on a weekly basis – as many residents still put their food waste in their black bins.

Food waste is recycled into green energy and soil conditioner rather than being incinerated if it is included in with household waste.  So, the more people recycle food waste the more we can contribute to creating green energy and improve our local environment.

Please take a couple of minutes to complete this quick and simple questionnaire with your thoughts about our food waste collection service.

Thank you
