Residents will see a real-terms cut in the Eastleigh Borough Council element of their Council Tax bills for the 23rd year in a row. The average Band D base tax increase for households in the Borough for the coming year has once again been set at 1% below inflation.

At the budget-setting meeting last night (Thursday 26 February), Councillors approved a £2.89 annual increase on the average Band D base Council Tax bill for Eastleigh Borough Council for 2026-27.

This year the average Band D Council Tax for the Borough is £2,342.21 with the Eastleigh Borough Council element £131.71, or £2.53 per week. The average Band D base tax increase of 2.4% (£2.89) over last year is 1% below inflation – representing a cut in real terms that has now been maintained for 23 years.

Just 5.6% of the overall Council Tax bill for Eastleigh Borough residents goes to the Borough Council, with the rest going to Hampshire County Council, the emergency services, and Parish and Town Councils.

Eastleigh Borough Council Leader, Councillor Keith House, said: "At Eastleigh we’re very proud that we have kept our promise to residents by delivering another real-terms cut in the Borough Council element of their Council Tax bills.

“We recognise that, during a cost-of-living crisis, every penny counts and this 23-year run of below-inflation increases reflects our commitment to providing high quality, value-for-money services that are valued by our communities.”
