Public Wi-Fi now live for Eastleigh town centre visitors
Free Wi-Fi is now publicly available in Eastleigh Town Centre to allow for faster and more secure connections in this retail and community hub.
The Eastleigh Local Area Committee has funded the upgrade which, in addition to making the public Wi-Fi network freely available to town centre visitors, includes the retail hub's footfall counters, which give businesses useful data about visitor numbers.
The Wi-Fi is integrated with Eastleigh Town Centre's newly installed CCTV system, made possible with funding from the Office of the Police Crime Commissioner, working with the Borough Council. The installation of the cameras, replacing an obsolete system, included an upgrade to the existing secure Wi-Fi network and has helped keep costs down by enabling the CCTV system to be updated in the future if needed.
This project has been managed in partnership with the Eastleigh BID and Eastleigh Town Council.
To access it, visitors should simply find Eastleigh Town Centre Wi-Fi in the list of available networks on phones or mobile devices and agree to the terms and conditions.
