Preparations start for Remembrance 2021
Festival of Remembrance at The Point
The Council’s Welcome Back Fund has arranged for new flowers to be added to the garden area around the Leigh Road Recreation Ground War Memorial ahead of Remembrance Sunday, Armistice Day and a local Royal British Legion celebration this weekend.
Arrangements of cyclamen and a little box hedge have been planted by Natisha Cadd from Nova’s Nursery, one of the traders from the Council’s weekly Hedge End market.
Some of the flowers make the shape of the number 100 to mark the 100 year anniversary of The Royal British Legion's Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford and District branch. The groups will celebrate this anniversary at this year's Festival of Remembrance in The Point on Saturday 30 October at 3pm, featuring the Military Wives Choir of Portsmouth and Otterbourne Brass.
Natisha said: “I feel so privileged to complete this work. These plants are hardy so will hopefully last until after Christmas.”
