Please dispose of your Christmas trees correctly
There are no public drop-off points in the Borough for unwanted Christmas trees.
As we move into the festive season Eastleigh Borough residents are being reminded that there are no public drop-off points in the borough for unwanted Christmas trees.
Please ensure your tree is taken to an HWRC or handed to a licensed waste carrier.
Illegal dumping, such as the piles of Christmas trees pictured, not only spoils our local environment but also costs time and money to clear resources that could be better spent improving our communities.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s Local Area Services Team have been busy this year.
Between November 2024 and November 2025, the team has continued to take firm action against environmental offences across the borough.
Over the past year, a total of 21 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) have been issued, which include:
- 1 for littering
- 1 for failure to furnish waste transfer notes
- 2 for breaches of duty of care
- 17 for fly-tipping
In addition, formal enforcement action has also included:
- 1 Community Protection Notice (CPN)
- 5 Community Protection Warnings (CPWs)
These figures highlight the Council’s ongoing commitment to keeping Eastleigh clean, safe, and free from environmental crime.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents and businesses that waste must always be disposed of responsibly. Please take your waste to a local Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) or, if you choose to hire a waste carrier, ensure they are licensed. Always ask to see their waste carrier registration number and pay by card where possible; this creates a traceable payment record.
Remember: if your waste is found fly-tipped and traced back to you, you could still be held liable, even if someone else disposed of it on your behalf.
