Pirelli Park transformation
Community workshop for local residents to give feedback
Residents local to the Pirelli Park, built on the former Pirelli General Cable factory site in the centre of Eastleigh, are being invited, along with their children, to attend a workshop this Saturday 8 February to help with the design of the new play park.
Antonia Sullivan, the artist involved in the project, is running a specially designed programme to encourage children to be involved in the design and look of the new play area. Children from the local community are being invited to this event where they will be free to create something that could be included in the final design.
Following an initial consultation with residents, suggestions are being taken forward for new play equipment, better seating and wild gardens among other things. The council plans to incorporate feedback from the community into the final design of the £350,000 play area which is to be funded by Bellway, the developers of the surrounding housing, as part of their planning permission.Work will begin on the project in the next few months with the aim to have the play area ready for the summer.
The workshop will take place at Cableworks Community Hub on Saturday February 8. The day will be made up of two sessions; the morning session will begin at 10:30 and the afternoon session at 13:00, both sessions will be the same so residents need only attend one session.
