Parking fine scam

Please be aware

13 September 2024

Eastleigh Borough Council is currently getting lot of calls from residents concerned about text messages they have received stating they have an outstanding parking fine.

The text message advises customers that they've received a parking fine from their local council. The message contains a link that directs people to a website where they can make payment and also advises there is a phone number they can contact.

This is a scam as the Council would NEVER contact residents in this way to pay an outstanding parking fine.  All Council reminders for outstanding parking fines would be sent by post. So advice to residents is to simply delete the text and DO NOT provide any of your financial details.

The Council has already checked vehicle registrations from concerned residents who have been told they have an outstanding fine and there have been none.
