Council’s Streetscene Team helping you enjoy our parks and open spaces
With Government guidance now allowing people the opportunity to enjoy unlimited exercise (taking account of social distancing) it’s more important than ever that our parks and open spaces are well maintained and that is exactly what the Councils’ Streetscene team are doing.
Our award-winning team of 50 Streetscene staff are working hard to cut and maintain 250 hectares of verges, public open spaces including sports fields (carried out throughout the year), sweep roads and pavements, empty around 900 litter bins and remove litter in our parks and open spaces across the borough.
Here you can see four members of the team; Chris and Warren from street cleansing, Mark using a compact sweeper and Shaun who is part of our grass cutting team - all of whom are working to help provide a clean and safe environment for you to enjoy.
A Council spokesperson said, “As from Wednesday 13 May residents can now take more exercise and sit down in our parks and open spaces. Our award winning Steeetscene team are committed to ensuring that we continue to keep our parks and open spaces as well maintained as possible for local people to enjoy during the COVID 19 lockdown. We would also remind people to be considerate and that when out in our parks that they make sure they dispose of their litter properly or take it home with them.”
