Homes are proposed for land near Kings Copse Avenue
The land has already been set aside for housing in our local plan
An online consultation about a development of much needed homes on land near Kings Copse Avenue, Eastleigh is due to begin today (Monday, June 30).
And there is still time for people to go along to a public consultation about the proposals
The in-person consultation is taking place on Wednesday (July 2) between 5.15pm and 7.45pm at Norman Rodaway Pavilion, Heath House Lane in Hedge End (S030 OPA).
The land has already been set aside for housing in the council’s approved local plan. Now, we’re asking for your views on how it could look and feel.
Our proposals include:
- 192 new homes, including:
- 1 and 2-bedroom apartments
- 2, 3 and 4-bedroom houses
- A mix of affordable and market homes, including homes for rent and shared ownership
- Planting trees and hedges to help local wildlife and meet a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain - a requirement to leave nature better than before.
- All homes include parking to reduce on-street parking.
- New access from Kings Copse Avenue
- High energy standards and modern design
- A walkable neighbourhood for everyone, creating safe, green and direct walking routes to key local places, this includes:
- New crossing on Kings Copse Avenue - with a central island.
- Access to existing underpass - a new path in the north will connect directly to the Kings Copse Avenue underpass.
- Link to Little Hatts play area - including an elevated boardwalk through Tanhouse Meadows (a protected nature site).
- Path to Rodaway recreation ground - giving access to the park and play area from the west of the site.
- Upgrading Tanhouse Lane – improving the walking route between Kings Copse Avenue and the local shop.
Homes are badly needed – and we want to make sure this development works for new and existing residents.
We know local services are under pressure, and we’ll share how we plan to manage these challenges. Your views will help shape the next steps.
