New Community Pantry opens in Bursledon
Pilands Wood Community Pantry opens 29 January
A new Community Pantry is due to open at Pilands Wood Community Centre, Bursledon, at the end of January.
Each Monday from 29 January, 10am to 4pm, local residents will be able to access low-cost food weekly by joining as a member.
Priority for membership will initially be given to Bursledon, Hamble, and Hound residents and a waiting list may apply depending on capacity.
Members will be given access to a variety of chilled, frozen, fresh, and cupboard stock items once a week. The cost is £5.00 per visit for a minimum of £15.00 worth of food.
The Community Pantry will be running alongside other support:
- The Citizens Advice Bureau drop-in is at the centre every Monday (except Bank holidays) between 10am and 12 noon.
- The Pilands Wood Community Shop is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (except bank holidays) from 9.30am and 12.30pm. It provides free books and low-cost preloved household, toys, and clothing items.
Funding has been awarded by Hampshire County Council's Connect4Communities grant.
This new pantry is offered alongside other low-cost and free food offers in the Borough such as foodbanks and community fridges.
