Mayor opens new secondary school
The Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Cynthia Garton recently officially opened Deer Park School, the new state of the art secondary school in Hedge End.
The £21.2 million school forms part of the Wildern Academy Trust and includes a three storey main building an adjacent sports hall and has capacity for 1,050 students. The main building includes a central triple-height atrium, 46 classrooms, a learning resource centre, science laboratories, art rooms, design and technology facilities and a music and drama space. The two-storey sports hall features a four-court main hall, a multi-use activity studio, and changing facilities.
Additional sports facilities for both the school and local community to use are also being developed, thanks to a joint investment of a further £2.4 million by Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council. This will include grassed sports pitches, including a 400 metre running track, a synthetic all weather pitch, and a multi-use games area with three netball courts and floodlighting.
