Making Eastleigh Festive with lights switch-on
Christmas countdown starts on Saturday 20 November
Eastleigh town centre will light up this weekend with the grand switch-on of the town centre’s Christmas lights.
The Mayor, Councillor Cynthia Garton, will be joined by Santa himself to light the festive illuminations this Saturday 20 November at 6pm from the bandstand in the Leigh Road Recreation Ground. This will be followed by a spectacular laser light display.
Although there's no parade this year, there will still be plenty to keep visitors entertained throughout the day from 11am, with a Christmas market and community market, a selection of children's and family rides provided by Stephen's Funfair, live music, food and drink.
On Saturday Happy's Circus will have a selection of their artists performing circus skills and promoting their Spirit of Christmas Show which they are bringing to the Leigh Road Recreation Ground from 3 December and will be performing the show two or three times a day until 2 January (including 20 November) - see www.happyscircus.co.uk for more details.
Unfortunately Santa's Grotto at the Point has now sold out unless you've pre-booked. The Grotto is new for this year and even if you haven't managed to get a time slot with Santa you can still come along to join in the festive atmosphere with drinks and food served from the kiosk throughout the day.
Under the banner 'Together We Make Eastleigh Festive' the Council is promoting high street shops right across the Borough in the run-up Christmas to support our retail and hospitality businesses impacted by the pandemic. We'll be publishing details of other Christmas events in our town and village centres as we count down to the big day.
