Make sure you sign up for your vaccine!
Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Darshan Mann and Eastleigh’s MP Paul Holmes teamed up and went along to St Peters Church in Boyatt Wood to see a local Covid 19 vaccination centre in action and help encourage local people to sign up for their vaccine - especially those residents from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
The vaccination centre is being run by Medicine Clinic Ltd who are providing Covid 19 vaccinations from their two pharmacies including one in Boyatt Wood. As a company they have now achieved over 10,000 vaccinations already which is a great milestone made possible by the combined efforts of many communities.
Mitesh Patel from Medicine Clinic said, “It’s really important that people don’t ignore letters from their GP or the NHS inviting them for a vaccine. Make sure you sign up and get vaccinated.”
Mayor of Eastleigh Darshan Mann said, “I’m delighted to come along and support the fantastic work of Mitesh and the team of volunteers at this vaccination centre here in Boyatt Wood as well as other similar centres throughout the Borough. My message is simple – we can all play our part in fighting Covid 19 - so sign up and get your vaccination as soon as you receive your invitation.”
Paul Holmes MP said, “Thank you to all the staff and volunteers working at our vaccination centres and GP surgeries across Eastleigh. Over 37,000 people across Eastleigh have now received their jab thanks to your heroic efforts. I’d also like to congratulate Mitesh and the team from Boyatt Pharmacy on delivering their 10,000th vaccination this week – a fantastic achievement!”
Discussion groups specifically for BAME residents and community leaders are taking place from the end of February and during March to discuss views and issues around COVID-19.
Sign up if you are interested in taking part in a discussion about these issues at one of the sessions.
