Work continues on Eastleigh Borough Council’s Local Plan Review, which will guide where homes, jobs and supporting infrastructure could go in the future.

Following the Council’s Issues and Options consultation (winter 2024/25), we are assessing:

  • four Strategic Development Options (SDOs) – broad areas that could support new communities, and
  • over 50 Small and Medium Site Options (SMSOs) – smaller sites that may fit within or alongside existing communities.

These sites were put forward by landowners and developers. They have not been proposed by the Council and being contacted about a site does not mean the Council supports it.

Why residents may be hearing from developers

Some developers are starting their own publicity and consultation work on sites they have submitted. This can include letters, websites or events. This activity is developer-led. Any site would still need detailed assessment and further public consultation through the Local Plan process and/or as part of any planning application. We will publish council updates on any developers proposals, that we are aware of, here: Proposals by developers - Eastleigh Borough Council

If a planning application is submitted, it will follow the normal statutory planning process, including consultation.
