Chestnut Avenue Bus Consultation Poster A32 02

Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council are proposing to make changes to Chestnut Avenue to accommodate the increasing numbers of students who travel to and from Barton Peveril College by bus.

The proposals include:

  • provide four extra bus stands in a new layby on the south side of the road
  • provide more pavement space to the east of the pedestrian entrance to the college
  • upgrade the current crossing point outside the pedestrian entrance to the college to a zebra crossing with a cycle crossing next to it (called a “parallel crossing”) to make it easier and safer to cross the road
  • plant trees and hedges in the green space area south of the new bus layby to enhance the area

Your feedback will help shape and refine the final design.

The public consultation opened on 12 January and closes on 22 February 2026.
