Have your say on Freespace skatepark
Eastleigh Borough Council have launched a public consultation on the proposals to replace the Freespace skate park at Stoneycroft Rise, Chandlers Ford after it previously suffered severe vandalism that resulted in the majority of the ramps being removed.
We now have some exciting new designs and would welcome comments from the local community on these proposals. We will also be replacing the existing riding surface with a new ‘close grained’ tar-mac surface for maximum user enjoyment of the new ramps.
So please provide you thoughts and views on how best to implement new wheeled sports improvements at Freespace by completing our questionnaire below. Your comments will help us to ensure we install the ramps that are preferred by the local community. A further consultation will be launched in due course to finalise the designs once the initial proposal feedback has been considered.
The public consultation period will until Wednesday 29 March, after this date we will finalise the designs with the contractor for the replacement skateboard park from feedback received on the Options 1 & 2 layouts. The contractor (Fearless Ramps) will then enter a period of offsite manufacture, before starting the on-site clearance, surfacing and ramps installation, we anticipate the reopening of Freespace to be Summer 2023.
