Grants awarded to community groups across the Borough
Local community groups benefited from £5,000 of grants from the Council’s Borough-wide Community Grants. Funds aim to support groups who reflect Council priorities of promoting health, prosperity, the environment, community development and involvement.
The panel were keen to help support groups who do so much for borough communities to maintain services or enhance their provision for the future.
Cabinet Lead for Health, Cllr Tonia Craig, said: “Our community groups in the Borough do so much for local communities and we value all the services they provide to support the wellbeing and enjoyment of residents. This includes day-to-day activities and when a group or individual require more specialised assistance. We’re proud to continue distributing these funds to a wide variety to recipients.”
The Blackbird Café - a small proportion of the grant will also cover some of the upfront costs from the Fairshare programme. Much needed crockery, cups and equipment used for cooking and preparing the meals.
Brendoncare - new facilities, new kettle, tea pots, games, also treats throughout the year like fish and chips and cakes.
Fleming Park Lifesaving Club - to resume sessions without concern as to whether the numbers attending will cover the hire cost of the facilities.
Itchen Valley Country Park parkrun - To purchase a secure lockable storage container to keep our parkrun equipment and kit safely stored onsite the Country Park from.
MHA Communities Eastleigh - to cover the annual membership cost of 16 members who would not be able to afford to be part of the MHA Communities Eastleigh scheme.
Mencap - towards cost of premises hire, transport and materials.
Royal British Legion - to purchase a gazebo so fundraising and other activities can take place outside.
SCRATCH charity - to reduce the cost of the Dorcas Project Basic Package for residents of Eastleigh Borough.
Solent Youth Action - portacabin and resources for the Routes outdoor learning centre.
