Flybe Statement

09 March 2020

Following the recent announcement that Flybe has gone into administration, the Leader of Eastleigh Borough Council, Councillor Keith House said: “This is very sad news for Southampton Airport and the hundreds of local people who work there. Southampton Airport is an essential part of the Borough’s and South Hampshire’s economy and provides crucial links to many destinations. The Government now needs to take urgent action to help save jobs and services by supporting regional airports and regional connectivity.”

The Council will work with colleagues at Jobcentre Plus and other local agencies to provide support to those who have been affected at the airport in an effort to help them find employment or appropriate opportunities for retraining.
