Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme(CJRS)-furlough

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) was announced by the Government in March in order to support employers unable to undertake their normal activities through the COVID-19 period,and is based around HMRC’s Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system.

CJRS by geographic area claims are based on the residential address used in PAYE. The take-up rate is a percentage of those in eligible employment as estimated by HMRC.

Hampshire Quarterly Labour Market has provided the latest employment/unemployment figures since the coronavirus pandemic began. 

The take up rate percentage of furlough claims received up to 30 June 2020 was 28% in the Borough of Eastleigh.

Take up of the Self employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS) claim received up to 30 June in the Borough of Eastleigh was 76% of the total eligible population.

From March 2019 - March 2020 unemployment in 16-64 year olds in the Borough was 1800 and a rate of 2.7% compared to the number of 16-64 year olds in employment at a total of 63,700 and a rate of 79.4%.
