Eastleigh’s summer of activities for children and young people in the Borough returns this summer

It’s a great chance for them to try something new, meet new friends and get their body moving over the summer break.

The Council’s SportWorks team’s Eastleigh Active Summer programme runs between 28 July and 22 August and includes Session activities across the Borough and free swimming at Places Leisure Eastleigh from Monday to Friday at 3pm to 3.45pm across the entire four weeks.

The programme launches with the well-loved SkateJam led by Team Rubicon at FreeSpace Skate Park, Chandler’s Ford, on the afternoon of Monday 28 July.

The Session activities run weekly and include Aerial Hoop, Fencing, CrossFit, Fishing, Sailing, Tennis, Yoga, with brand new Fencing, and much, much more.

Staggered bookings open from Monday 30 June at 10am, with three booking releases that week to split up the popular activities to allow fairness for bookers.

Free swimming registrations then open early on Monday 7 July at 10am, which is required prior to attending any pool sessions.

We again thank the Local Area Committees and Town and Parish Councils for additional funding so that paid for activities can be kept to £3.50 per session, or £1 for households in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support.

Eastleigh Borough Council’s cabinet member for Health, Councillor Tonia Craig, said: “Summer is the perfect time for young people in our Borough to get active and there are activities to suit everyone, from fencing to fishing, and from swimming and sailing. Fencing is a brand-new offer this year.

“Activities are also kept low cost at £3.50 per session or just £1 for households in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax support with swimming and the SkateJam completely free!

“So why not check out what activities are going on to move your body and meet new friends over the summer break?”
