The Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space due to open in the summer
It has been named Stoke Common Park following a meeting of the council's cabinet
Magnificent views over our beautiful Hampshire countryside will be available when Eastleigh’s new Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG) opens this summer.
This new 21ha parkland was named at the Eastleigh Borough Cabinet meeting last Monday (16 June) as Stoke Common Park
Working on behalf of Eastleigh Borough Council, White Horse Contractors have completed the construction of a focal point in the extensive network of paths located at the very heart of the site.
Seating areas have been added too, perfect for a family picnic, a quiet rest or simply to enjoy the fresh air.
The council aimed to make this outdoor site accessible to as many people as possible with nearly 2.5km of new pathways which link into the wider path networks of Stoke Park Woods and beyond.
Parking for Stoke Common Park is located at Stoke Common Cemetery car park from which footpath access is available through Stoke Park Woods Public Rights of Way or along the public bridleway at the entrance of Sewall Drive.
Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr. Ian Corben said: “We are delighted that local residents and visitors will soon be able to enjoy this wonderful new community parkland.
“Stoke Common Park is rapidly taking shape, with further ecological enhancements and landscaping works coming in the Autumn, it will open this summer to all who want to experience the glorious landscape and rich wildlife and plants that can be seen in the area.
“I would like to thank White Horse Contractors for their technical input and hard work bringing our vision together and indeed thank everyone who has contributed to making our ambitious plans for this new community park a reality.”
